Garbage And Trash Regulations
Household Garbage:
Is collected twice weekly, Mondays and Thursdays or Tuesdays and Fridays, depending on your address. To find out the collection schedule for your address, call Public Works at (727) 391-1611.

To avoid strong odors and attracting rats, roaches, and other pests, place perishable waste in plastic bags before placing in garbage cans.

Flatten cardboard boxes, tie them together, and place them at the curb on the evening before the scheduled collection. They will be picked up along with your second garbage pickup of the week.

Container Requirements for Household Garbage:
Do not use any container larger than 32 gallon, (no 55 gallon drums or larger).

Containers must have lids and handles.

The number of cans should be sufficient to hold all garbage between collections.  Should not exceed 2 cans per unit.

Yard Waste:
Grass clippings, sod, leaves, and pulled weeds are picked up with the regular household garbage with your second pickup of the week (Thursday or Friday). Put this waste in cans or plastic bags and place at the curb the evening before the scheduled collection.

Small tree trimmings (limbs no more than 4 inches in diameter), shrub clippings, palm fronds, and other yard waste which are suitable for mulching are placed loose at the curb for collection on every Wednesday except for holidays. Cut pieces so they are no more than 4 feet in length. Do not let your stack be more than 4 feet high and 8 feet long.

Yard waste in excess of the normal is tagged, and an inspector computes the costs of disposal. The fee is included in your bill from Pinellas County Utilities.

Household Trash (small items):
Place at the curb no sooner than the evening before the scheduled collection.

Items are picked up along with your second garbage pickup ( Thursday or Friday).

Bulk Items (such as large pieces of furniture, etc.):

Fees are $10 and $5 (per Fees and Collection Procedures Manual).

Collected on a fee basis. Cost of collection is $10.00 for first item and $5.00 for each additional item picked up and is included in your bill from Pinellas County Utilities.

Call the Public Works Department at (727) 391-1611 to schedule pick-up.

Place item(s) at the curb no sooner than the evening before the scheduled collection. Place item(s) away from overhead wires, mailboxes and other obstructions.

Special Notice to Residents
The City of Madeira Beach has been required to comply with Florida Statue 40 CFR, Part 82; 62-204.800. This statue deals with used air conditioners, refrigerators and any other appliances that contain or have contained a refrigerant (such as FREON). It will now be necessary to have such appliances legally and completely purged of all refrigerants.

The City does not have the equipment to perform this operation at the present time. Therefore it has become necessary for us to take all appliances to the Pinellas County Solid Waste site and pay them to perform this operation for us.

This cost plus the added manpower and time involved will passed on directly to the homeowners. Our rate is $20 for each appliance.
